QUALITY OF LIFE: 32,500 ACRES OF COOL, BLUE, IRRESISTIBLE LIFESTYLE

Lake Norman HouseLife in the Lake Norman Region revolves around the largest reservoir in North Carolina, a mecca for sailing, skiing and fishing enthusiasts. 520 miles of shoreline are dotted with beautiful homes, golf courses, restaurants, office complexes and public parks. Beyond the lake, the downtowns of Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville retain their southern village charm, while newer areas feature carefully planned developments combining residential, dining and upscale shopping. Schools are excellent, health care is world class, and the cost of living is below the national average. And, of course, the many appeals of Charlotte are just minutes away.

Needless to say, Lake Norman itself is the recreational epicenter of the Lake Norman Region. But with our mild four-season climate, the lake is by no means the only outlet for outdoor types.

Our area is a golfer’s paradise, with dozens of beautiful and challenging courses in the Lake Norman Region that are playable year round. And for a change of pace, it’s an easy drive to the legendary golfing playgrounds of Pinehurst and Myrtle Beach.

Spectators have plenty to choose from too, including the NFL Panthers, NBA Bobcats, WNBA Sting, Chicago White Sox's AAA baseball and NASCAR racing at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

There are a wide variety of affordable recreational activities locally, due in large part to the commitment of Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson and Mecklenburg County to developing parks and greenways and preserving open spaces. Discovery PlaceDiscovery Place in downtown Charlotte offers a variety of fun educational and learning activities for children, school trips and families. The facility includes an IMAX theater.

Charlotte ShoutFestivals are also a regular feature of the area. Every September, Charlotte Shout stages a month-long celebration of the arts, culture, entertainment and culinary arts throughout Mecklenburg County.

The Arts and Sciences Council of Charlotte-Mecklenburg (ASC), the primary source of information for advancing arts, science and history in the area, has developed a regional office (ASC North) for the Towns of Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson, and has begun implementing a cultural action plan for projects and events in the area.
